So, thanks to Nikki getting a referral bonus from work, we are proud new owners of shiny bicycles. Now obviously Nikki isn’t going to be doing too much bike riding right now but I’m hoping to start at about 5k per day and work my way up to 20k. Once I figure out the best route I’ll probably start riding my bike to work as well. (once I find out if they have a bike rack there) For those keeping track I think it’s been about 12 or 13 years since I last rode a bike. While The Adage appears to be true, you certainly CAN get rusty. I’ve taken it for a short spin around the block so far today. I may go for another ride yet tonight or may just wait for tomorrow. I also picked up one of the bike computer thingy’s that tell me how far I’ve travelled and my avg speed, top speed, etc. I think it also calculates calories burned and will tell me exactly how fast I need to be going and how many gigawatts I need to activate the built-in flux capicator. I jest of course. This is only a cheapy one – $25. I saw some computers there around the $500 point. For a bike computer. Smaller than a Zippo. Seriously. What the fuck can these computers tell me that the $25 one can’t? For that price it better have had GPS built-in and a WiFi connection to connect to your home network and offer up a built-in web server or some crazy shit like that.
