Hey Everyone! I decided that I would do my best to take a photo every day for the year. We’ll see how it works out. To capture this attempt I’ve created a new blog to post the pics. It can be found at http://rob2013.surfergeeks.net/blog. Theoretically there will be a new post there every day. At the end of the year will there be 365 posts? Not likely, but I’m planning on doing my best.
So…I was thinking about switching themes. Then I updated the theme I was using and fucked it up. So now we have this one. I like it. Sorta. Still needs to be tweaked. (Hence the reason it says “irresistable” up top there)
Bear with me…
Oh, the pictures are still available – they’re at the top instead of the bottom now. Just hover over the page and a drop down will magically appear. It’s kinda hard to read though. I’ll have to look at that.
ps. It’s now been a month and half since I sent my letter to Mayor Fontana. I have received no acknowledgement of my email, not even a crummy form letter.
[UPDATE] I think I like the theme you’re looking at right now. I’m gonna tweak it a bit and run with it for a while.
That’s right boys and girls, pictures have returned! If you take a gander down at the bottom you’ll see the word “Pictures” in a pretty little box. All you need to do is hover over it and a little window will pop-up giving you your options. Right now, the only one in there is Ryan’s 2nd Birthday but rest assured, I’ll get some more added as I get them categorized, edited, and uploaded to Picasa.
Okay, we’re back! Netfirms was able to import the database for me so I only lost the changes I made after moving to the new host. That’s okay. I should have probably made a backup after setting everything up. Over this week I’ll get it all setup the way it was prior to their server farm drying up (heh).
Well, as you can probably see, I’ve changed the theme to something new. I kinda like this one – especially the way the little calendar page shows the date of the post. Hope you enjoy!
Okay, we admit it – we pride ourselves on bringing you the most useless stuff on the internet. But sometimes something comes along that allows us to bring to you the COOLEST stuff on the internet. This is one of those things. Check out this page. What you see are NOT photographs. They are vector images created using Adobe Illustrator.
Hey all, got a new look up right now. Not everything is working quite right yet but I’m working with the creator of the theme to hammer out the one last little glitch. Once that get’s hammered out, I’ll bring back the photo on the right hand side as well as the movie reviews.
Wiarton Willy (the second) died today. It was 9 years old. But don’t worry, Wiarton has assured us that they’ll have a replacement Willy by the time next Groundhog Day rolls around.
In other news, I’ve installed a little back-end program to the site that lets me see what kind of searches are bringing people to our l’il corner o’ the web. One of the searches from today was “Kilz primer hand cramps”. Okay, I get the Kilz primer bit – for those that don’t know – it’s an odour-stopping, stain-sealing primer. Absolutely terrific for covering up a smokers’ room and not having to worry about the stain and odour seeping through. And “hand cramps” also makes sense by itself. But What In The Blue Hell is someone looking for when they type in “Kilz primer hand cramps”????? But, for what it’s worth, if you type that into Google, our website is the 6th entry! Go us!
I’ve been playing alot of point and click or room escape puzzle games online. I really like the challenge of figuring out what I need to do to win. I actually stumbled on a game (link) that is very similar, but instead of point and click puzzles, you have to solve clues to figure out what the new URL is that gets you to the next level. The clues start off easy, but they do increase in difficulty. I’m not sure how many levels there are, but hopefully I get to the end.
Edit: And done! Definitely a great puzzle, took me most of yesterday and this morning to complete.
If you look over there to the right. No, the other right. You’ll see a new feature I’ve added – mini movie reviews! I’ll do my best to update it after each movie that I watch.
Okay, I know that many of you have been able to view the website now for a while. Unfortunately, we Rogers customers we’re fucked. It had to do with DNS caching. It seems to have resolved itself now. Hooray!
EDIT: We’re SORTA back. I think that the proper DNS resolution is SLOWLY floating through Rogers myriad of DNS servers. I can hit the site sometimes and other times I can’t. I’ve found a sort of workaround for those that run into the problem but it’s not a guaranteed fix. Damn Rogers. It all started going downhill after they dropped USENET support. Asses.
If you look over at the sidebar you’ll see a little ‘Add to Google’ button. This is to add the site to your Google Reader account. Very handy. If you don’t already have a Google Reader account, I highly recommend it.
Comments are turned back on. Apparently it only disables commenting on new posts or something. Grr. So I just have to continue moderating out the comments.
I’ve temporarily disabled the ability to comment on posts. The server is currently getting spammed big time. I figure if a week goes by with no success the spammer will move on…
Well, as you can see, I’ve switched the theme around. Both Nikki & I like this one so it’ll probably stay like this for a while.
Also, I fixed the linked to the Natalie Portman clip. It will actually work now and you can watch the very funny video!
As you’ve (hopefully) already noticed. Over there, to the left. No, the other left dummy (<---), is a chat box. It lets you post little one liners or whatever you feel like posting. Have fun!
Check this out.
These are photographs of painted rooms. Now the neat thing is all the rooms are painted so that they create an optical illusion. Depending on what angle you view each room will depend on the image that appears from the paint.
