So today ends the first of my two weeks off between terms of school. School went really well. While I have no way of confirming I’m pretty sure that I’m right near the top of the class. Happy happy joy joy. So the rest is well deserved in my opinion! Kicked off the week with an overnight trip to Jen & Mike’s in Waterloo. That was fun. And interesting. Played some games, had some drinks. Played a couple neat new games. One was called Fluxx and the other was Citadels. I wouldn’t mind picking up a copy of Fluxx. Easy game to learn and fun to play. Came home on Sunday and chilled.Played some D&D and killed some baddies (We won’t talk about my near death experiences). Sunday night I pre-ordered Starcraft 2 from Future Shop. They’re offering a key to play in the beta. I was told it would be sent to me one business day after the order processes.
Monday I got the email saying the order had processed. Sweet! Tuesday I can start playing SC2!!! Yeah…not so much. Tuesday comes and goes with nary an email.
Wednesday was haircut day! Packed the whole tribe in the van and off we went to get our haircut. Got home expecting an email waiting for me with the now-overdue beta key. Nope. Still MIA. A quick check online reveals MANY people having this exact problem and Future Shop having no information on what the hell is going on. The standard line appeared to be that we would have the key by the end of the week. I also started reading Dean Koontz’s “Breathless” since I couldn’t be spending my nights playing SC2. Oh, our haircuts look great! Next stop – dying Nikki’s hair and getting pics taken.
Didn’t do much on Thursday – including play Starcraft2.
Friday. Glorious Friday. TGIF. The beginning of the weekend. Called and made the appointment for pictures. Also ended up cancelling my Future Shop pre-order. I ordered the game from Gamestop instead. I’ll still buy from Future Shop as they are a convenient, cheap place to buy electronics that I’ve researched. That said, neither Future Shop or Best Buy will EVER get a pre-order from me ever again. When Nikki got home from work we dyed her hair. She suggested the colour and it sounded good to me. I finished reading the Koontz book and let me tell you, this guy has become the puppy mill of novels.
Saturday. Picture day! As I ordered the game on Friday I was *hoping* to get the key on Saturday but apparently, even in this day of always-on communication and global economy “business day” still refers to Monday thru Friday. Lame. So, fingers crossed, I’m expecting the beta key to be delivered Monday. After getting our pictures taken we stopped in at Jysk so that we could find out if Alex would be interested in this hella cool loft bed they sell. He is so I think we’ve got his Christmas present picked out. We also headed to Toys R Us to pick up a birthday present for a schoolmate of Alex’s as well as check out their on sale selection of Leapster games. Picked up a couple to give the little dude on special occasions. If only we could find the WALL-E cart that he lost. We also bought the card game Uno. Alex has been playing it on the XBox lately and he does okay. We played a game yesterday and he did okay. We have to help him a bit but he’s getting the hang of it. Biggest thing to work on is his sportsmanship. The boy does NOT like losing. Gets that from his Mom.
Got a text message from a friend last night who told me that her boyfriend had won $100,000 on a scratch ticket. Good for them! They could definitely use the money. Let’s hope they don’t blow it all. Last night watched the movie Daybreakers. It was alright but not terrific. One thing I realized – you can get a good idea of the quality of the movie by the number of trivia entries for that movie on IMDB. Daybreakers had three or four entries. That should tell you something.
Today’s just a lazy kinda day. Supposed to be helping a friend move later. Sitting around waiting for her call. Played another game of Uno with the boy. Nikki won (again). She claims she doesn’t cheat.
