The Fifth Month

I’ve now turned 5 months, so…

By the end of this month, I SHOULD be able to:

*hold head steady when upright – done and done for a long time now.
*on stomach, raise chest, supported by arms – I’m trying, my arms are still floppy though.
*roll over – yup, although if I get over all the way, I get stuck and cry.
*pay attention to a raisin or other very small object – mommy hasn’t seen me do this yet, and I’m not sure if I will do it.
*squeal in delight - I do this a lot!
*reach for an object – yuppers. I like to reach for my toys when I drop them or they are hanging over my head.
*smile spontaneously – yup
*grasp a rattle held to backs or tips of fingers – yup.

â€¦will PROBABLY be able to:

*bear some weight on legs – yup, if I try to stand, my mommy only has to help me with balance now.
*keep head level with body when pulled to sitting – done for a long time now.
*say ah-goo - yup and I’m making new sounds now.
*razz – yuppers!

â€¦may POSSIBLY be able to:

*sit without support – almost, I’m trying so hard and its frustrating…..I will do it soon!!
*turn in a direction of a voice - yup, I look when my parents talk.

â€¦may even be able to:

*pull up to standing position from sitting – I can’t even sit yet, so nope.
*stand holding on to someone or something - I’m close, gramma was helping me pratice a while ago and would love to try again.
*feed himself or herself a cracker – mommy hasn’t given me a cracker yet.
*object if you take a toy away – I haven’t yet.
*work to get a toy out of reach – yup, my ball likes to roll away, so I have to squirm to see it and try to get it back.
*pass a cube or other object from one hand to the other – haven’t tried.
*look for a dropped object – nope, not yet. I seem to forget about them when I drop them.
*rake a raisin and pick it up in fist - mommy’s really gotta give me a couple raisins to try this.
*babble, combining vowels and constanants such as ga-ga-ga, ma-ma-ma, da-da-da – my new sounds are getting close to sounding like this. My tongue still seems to get in the way though.
