As I write this, my computer is busy uploading 34 new pictures to the gallery. 31 of them are in the Alex’s section and 3 are in ‘The Furries’… Check ‘em out. And stop whining.

So, today, since I’m at home watching over the baby and taking care of the gimp I figured that I’d play me some poker. I sat down at a 6-person $5+$0.50 Sit ‘N’ Go (SNG). That game didn’t go too well. I was out second. Blah. Not to be disheartened, I quickly signed up for another. This table went…rather differently… For those that don’t play, a SNG starts with x people (6 in this case) each with y amount of chips (1500). Once your chips are gone, so are you. There’s no rebuys or anything else to keep you alive. Just like Highlander, there can be only one; you’re goal is to be that lone survivor at the end of the table. Sometimes you get there by laying back and waiting for other players to knock each other out, or sometimes you get there the way I did today: systematically knocking EVERY one of the other five players out, one-by-one. That’s right, no player was eliminated by anyone but yours truly. It was sweet. Plus, it dropped $21 into my account!
Oh yeah, played in another WWdN:ix tourney on PokerStars last night. Didn’t go so well. Wil lasted longer than me. Had a couple bad beats. Ah well, such is life.

Yeah, so I’m a klutz. Yesterday, while over at my parent’s place, I sprained my ankle. Badly. For the rest of the day I could barely walk, I’m still limping today. The suckiest part is in order to change Alex, I have to go down two steps, then up two steps. So not fun. But seeing as Alex will insist on being changed occassionally, I still have to take those steps. Oh well, hopefully my ankle will feel better soon. So feel free to make fun of me now… Rob already has.

Wow, my first post to the surfergeeks blog. I can’t even talk yet and I’m voicing my opinion with the written word over the internet.
My parents, Rob and Nikki, thought I should have an account here, that way I can update everyone on how I’m doing. Maybe I will take over my monthly update postings for my mom. I will definitely let everyone know about my important firsts. When I first walk, get my first tooth, you know, that kind of stuff.
Anyway, it’s way past my bedtime. I just wanted everyone to know that I’ve join the fight to bring you the most useless information on the web.
Alex.

Okay, first, I know that the page looks broken right now. It’s because of the coding that I needed to put in for the Poker link on the left. That link will get me an invitation to a bloggers only poker tourney this upcoming Sunday. After the tourney, I’ll remove it.
Next, last night Nikki & I played in a $10+$1 buyin over on Pokerstars.com. As you know, usually we play at UltimateBet but the thing is…Wil [IMDB] Wheaton [WWdN In Exile] is a player over at PokerStars and he’s hosting a weekly tourney. The person that knocks him out of the tourney gets the following weeks tourney named after him/her. That’s pretty sweet. Oh yeah, there’s the prize money too. Last night the winner walked away with over $400. So, how did we do? Well, not so good. Nic went out fairly early. I hung in there. I had a couple “minimum” goals that I really wanted to accomplish: 1) Crack the top 50 (there were 152 entrants) 2) Last longer than Wil.
So how did things turn out? I finished in 49th. Wil finished in 54th. So I did it, I beat Wil. Now, I wasn’t the one to knock him out, so there will be no “WWdN Robbie Robb Invitational” next week. In fact, neither of us actual ever ended up at the same table as him. He was placed at a low number table from the beginning and I was at the table right next to him. It was unlikely that I would ever get moved to his table unless something really wonky happened at my table where 4 people went out all at the same time or something.
This was Nikki’s first time playing on Poker Stars. She, like me, prefers the front-end of UltimateBet over PS however there are some REALLY nice features that I wish UB would adopt. With PS it is possible to have the tournament summary emailed to you, as well as your hand statistics for pretty much any hand or series of hands. So in short, UB = prettier, easier to navigate. PS = more function. There’s also the “apparent” (as in we all think it is there but UB denies it and there’s really no way to prove it) propensity to deal ‘action’ hands where out of 10 people, 2 or 3 may have pocket pairs and someone else has Big Slick. This is to generate a ton of pot action, thereby increasing the rake that the company makes. We’ve all seen it. PS doesn’t seem to have this – at least not in tourneys. I’ve still got some cash left in my PS account so I’ll probably play for some bucks over there again. I’m looking forward to the next WWdN tourney. Maybe I’ll get to take on the man himself.

So, Freya has become a slight pain when it comes to the baby. It’s not that she’s still afraid of the baby or wants to attack him, in fact, quite the opposite. I can barely get Freya to leave Alex’s room. She is quite protective of him and spends most of her time being near him, I’m sure it’s to make sure he’s okay.
Unfortunately, she has decided that Alex’s toys are hers to play with. If first started with his rattles. She’s tried to pick them up off of the coffee table so she can bat them around the floor. I’ve quickly smacked her for that and told her it’s not a cat toy. Fortunately, Alex isn’t putting things in his mouth yet, so I can easily wash the rattles and give them back to Alex.
Well, last night while Rob and I were watching TV, the cat come over to the couch and starts meowing. I look down and she has one of the zebra shoes in her mouth (these are from the zoo, if you want to see a pic of them, check the gallery). Freya wants to play fetch with it, like it was her baby (one of her cat nip filled toys). Now, I can admit that to a cat, that shoe may look like her baby and she could mistake it for something she’s allowed to play with. So I take the shoe away from her, tell her it’s not a cat toy and hide it.
Now comes the kicker. Last night at 3 AM, Alex woke up for another feeding. So I take him out of the crib, pull out his soother and place it on the end table, sit down and pop the bottle in his mouth and start feeding. Once done that, I get up to change his diaper. Finish that and get ready to put him back to bed. Well, in order to calm him I need the soother, so I go to the table.
What the…! The soother is gone. So I look around to see if it fell off, but no that’s not the case because there walking away is Freya and she has the soother in her mouth!! Yup, Freya now thinks the soothers are her toys too. I shout at her and take it away, but I really doubt she understands. I’m going to sanitize it, but what’s to stop Freya from taking his other soothers. Especially since, he doesn’t keep them in his mouth all the time and they have a tendancy to fall out. Oh well, I think Freya will just have to see the wrong end of the water bottle more often.

So, I went back to the baby wellness clinic again today. Before I get into his weight and height, I’d like to say MY BABY IS HUGE!
I was sitting and waiting for my turn, and of course, there are several other babies and mothers there. And I notice quite a few of the babies are crawling about and/or playing with toys. This means they are older than Alex. The next thing I noticed is Alex is bigger than all of them! One of the babies, was probably at least 7 months old and I think the two of them were about the same size.
Is this a good thing? Or a bad thing? I don’t know, but I had to take note.
Finally, another reason Alex is huge is his weight and lenght. And they are…
Weight: 12 lbs. 8 oz.
Length: 23 1/2 in.

Okay, Nikki pointed out to me today that I never did finish my recap of the fall TV season. She’s right. I’ve thought about it a couple times and just never got around to it. Most of the shows are the same. There’s only been a couple of “?!?!?!” moments on any of the shows – nothing really worth writing about.
We’ve also been really busy playing poker.
Some day we’ll get the newer baby pics up. We’re still taking them (granted, not 40 a day like the first few days) but we (I) haven’t moved them over to the notebook yet. Soon. Promise.

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mom and I took Alex to the Baby Wellness Clinic yesterday, so I have an update on his weight and length for all those who are curious.
Weight: 10 lbs. 15 oz.
Length: 22 3/4 in.
