Okay…so…spammers really suck. This has been posted here before – but now it’s for a new reason. Apparently there is some programs floating around out there that will allow spammers to post comments on blogs. Seriously – how lame is that??? The stupidest part is that the spam comments usually get placed WAAAYYY back in the posts so chances are no one is ever going to see them.

Anyway, I got tired of this so I made a small change with regards to commenting – now you can only comment on posts that are recent. All older posts will be locked for commenting. Hopefully this stops the spam and they don’t have a way around that. If they do, I may just have to disable commenting completely – we’ll see. You can still view the old comments but just can’t post to most of the older posts. As a general rule, I’ll probably be closing off commenting after the post has been up about two weeks or so.

Newer versions of the blogging software I use (Moveable Type) have an option that forces people to register before they can post comments. I would move to the new version except they’ve started charging for it now and for Nikki & I to both be able to post it would cost like $40 or $50 US for that. I can put up with either the lack of commenting or spam before I shell out for the new version.

I just read on CNN that Laura Branigan died yesterday. She was 47. For those too young to remember, Branigan was most well known for her hit single “Gloria”. Apparently her official website listed the cause of death as a brain aneurysm. Sure – those can hit ya at any age, but it’s still kinda creepy. She was only fifteen years older than me…yikes…

First – Hi Mel!!! (Mel visits the site periodically as well. Of course, she didn’t put her last name and without a word of a lie I know at least three Mel’s off the top of my head but I’m guessing it’s Tracy’s Mel)

Second – Jen – fixed those three extra images. Don’t know how the hell they ended up the first page. Getting them uploaded was a bitch and then they appear twice. go figure.

Third – if you use Internet Explorer to visit this site you may notice that the box around the logo at the top isn’t the same colour as the background. In actuality, it is. IE just sucks. Use Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox). It works. Seriously – switch to Firefox. Anyhoo – the problem is with the way IE handles (or doesn’t handle in this case) the alpha channel in PNG graphics. (PNG is sorta like GIF or JPG only better) There is a way to fix the graphic file, I just need to figure out what it is. It’ll look purdy soon.

Fourth – (hmm…maybe I should change the title of this post) As I said, I’m still not happy with the way the gallery looks. I may try a different look soon. I’d really like to make the entire site consistent but that would take farrrrr too long…or not…I’ll have to look into it.

Rumours are floating about on the ‘net that have Lucasfilms employees being made to sign NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreements) that forbid them from even talking about the possibility that episodes 7,8, and 9 of the once-great franchise that Lucas ruined in a single film. The question being asked, of course, is if he wasn’t planning on making them why have NDAs?

Hopefully if he does end up making them he doesn’t wear all hats like with eps 1,2,3…

It’s Tuesday morning. I have to leave in twenty minutes for my first day back at work after my vacation. This sucks. I truly did have every intention of winning the lottery so I’d never have to go back. Grrr.

Well, as you can see, we’re renovating. I’m still not quite happy with the menubar up above so look for it to change. Also, the crap over at the left will be moving to the ‘Blog Archives’ link up there. The ‘Who We Are’ leads nowhere right now. I could put a placeholder in there but, eh, fuck it – it’ll be working soon enough.

Hehe, I just went back and looked – it was February 29 that I first said changes are coming. It’s only taken 7 months. That’s not too bad…

Okay! The gallery is fixed and new pictures are up! There’s a new album called ‘Miscellaneous’ that contains some work-outing shots, a cool shot of lightning, and the recent pics from Nikki’s birthday dinner. Somehow, at that dinner I never got a shot of my mom or Nic’s folks. oops. There’s also more pictures in the album ‘The Family’.

So, it turns out after all I DIDN’T break the gallery. The version of the software that I attempted to update to had a bug in it that caused the breakage. Things are fixed now and everything is hunky-dory!

Oh yeah – forget to mention – a new look for the gallery as well. Let me know what you think of it. I’m thinking it may be too dark but I do like the look though.

Also – the new cat pics are at the end of the gallery.

Hehe…I am SOOOO dead for this. When I took this picture I had planned up uploading it with the birthday party stuff. Then I got lazy and didn’t transfer the pictures until today. Then gallery broke. So I figure I’d create a new post.

This picture was taken in the elevator on the way home from the birthday party. My original caption for the picture was going to be “So – does this tell you how much alcohol was consumed at the party?”

In reality it was just one of this quirky little things that happen when you take pictures and catch someone in mid-expression.
