Ok, Rob got a letter from Columbia House today. (Background: he has purchased some DVDs from them)
The contents of the letter: We are sorry to inform you that your merchandise has been returned as undeliverable.
Does this make sense? To send a letter to an address that previously could not be sent to? Does Columbia House just assume the letter will be received? It was, but that’s not the point. Would it not be unreasonable to think that the letter would go undeliverable as well? If the address was wrong the first time, the address is probably going to be wrong the second time.
The other weird this about this; what happend to the DVDs? Why did they end up undeliverable? They had the right address, as we can verify from the notice we received that informed us they couldn’t be sent.
It’s all very, very stange.

That’s a little weird. But not as weird as “Robert”‘s Mail Man conspiracy theory.
Packages are returned more often than letters are. A letter can fit right in your mailbox and can be easily delivered by the mailman. But a package is more of a hassle. It would be a lot easier for the mailman to not deliver a package and simply say that you weren’t home at the time. Sometimes they leave notice. But if you don’t pick up the package in about 10 days, it will be returned. And when it is returned, the Post Office usually makes up an excuse explaining why it didn’t get delivered. One reason is that is was undeliverable, but why was it undeliverable? Only the mailman know for sure.
Actually, Nic mis-posted – it was the monthly catalog/director’s selection card that didn’t get to me, not an actual DVD.
I’m guessing perhaps the package was too big to stuff in yout mail slot, and then your PO slip got lost or was never written. Then after sitting at the PO for awhile, back it went. I would have lost my sympatico modem if I hadn’t been watching for it, and wondering WhereTF it was. I ended up calling the PO asking about packages for me.
