Enough waiting already…

Okay, I’ve been waiting for Jen to make a post on her website but she’s apparently busy sleeping or something like that. Sheesh…you have a newborn and you think you can just post at your leisure….

So, as you can tell from the little blurb above, Jen & Mike gave birth (well, Jen did most of the work) to a healthy baby girl sometime a couple weeks ago. Specifically, it was Friday, May 14th – I think. It was at 11:10pm. That much I know. She weighed in at 7 pounds some-odd ounces.

It’s also quite possible Jen set some type of land-speed record for giving birth and getting back home to watch TV. She went into the hospital around 10pm and was back home at 2am, baby in tow. Everybody’s doing great. (well, except for maybe Mike – he’s been off these past couple weeks so he’s probably ready to pull out his hair :-)

So yeah, on to other stuff…that storm was pretty wicked. What Nikki failed to mention was our little field trip. During the storm and primary power outage a ton of fire trucks went screaming by the apt. They were going to an apt building a little further up the street. (Actually, the same building where my Grandma used to live) Then an ambulance went screaming by a few minutes later. It was a fairly steady stream of emergency vehicles. Maybe the building was burning down. Kinda cool. So, we just get settled in bed to begin reading when the power goes out. I let out this ungodly “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” scream and toss the book on the floor. So then I was like, “Fuck it! I’m going to go see what’s happening down at the burning building.” I get up, in the dark, managed to dress myself without putting anything on inside out or backwards or anything like that. Nic’s like, “I’m coming too.” So just as we’re about to leave, the power comes back on to the entire apartment. Since we’d already gotten dressed again for our little journey we weren’t about to be deterred. Down the stairs we go – the way the power was behaving I wasn’t taking a chance with the elevators. We were originally going to walk but it still kinda sprinkling and, well, I didn’t want to melt, so we drove. We get down to the scene and there are like five fire trucks, the platoon chief and two ambulances. Tons o’ people milling about but no sign of smoke. (Granted, I wasn’t expecting something along the lines of the MGM Grand fire but a little smoke wouldn’t have hurt)

Home we go, start watching TV. A few minutes later one of the fire trucks that was there goes screaming down Bradley the other way on its way to a different call apparently. Whee! Lots of fun that night…

Oh yeah, on Friday, Jason, Tracy, Tracy, Nic & I went to Silver City to see Shrek 2. This movie is freakin’ great! Far funnier than the first one and TONS of little inside jokes and references to other movies. The best character, BY FAR, had to be Puss In Boots. The feline blade-master was voiced by Antonio Bandarras (or however the fuck you spell his last name). The voice was perfect for it and the way they animated the cat made both Nikki & I think of Freya. Some of the expressions were almost EXACTLY the same. Sooooo cute….
