Okay, I’ve been waiting for Jen to make a post on her website but she’s apparently busy sleeping or something like that. Sheesh…you have a newborn and you think you can just post at your leisure….

So, as you can tell from the little blurb above, Jen & Mike gave birth (well, Jen did most of the work) to a healthy baby girl sometime a couple weeks ago. Specifically, it was Friday, May 14th – I think. It was at 11:10pm. That much I know. She weighed in at 7 pounds some-odd ounces.

It’s also quite possible Jen set some type of land-speed record for giving birth and getting back home to watch TV. She went into the hospital around 10pm and was back home at 2am, baby in tow. Everybody’s doing great. (well, except for maybe Mike – he’s been off these past couple weeks so he’s probably ready to pull out his hair :-)

So yeah, on to other stuff…that storm was pretty wicked. What Nikki failed to mention was our little field trip. During the storm and primary power outage a ton of fire trucks went screaming by the apt. They were going to an apt building a little further up the street. (Actually, the same building where my Grandma used to live) Then an ambulance went screaming by a few minutes later. It was a fairly steady stream of emergency vehicles. Maybe the building was burning down. Kinda cool. So, we just get settled in bed to begin reading when the power goes out. I let out this ungodly “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” scream and toss the book on the floor. So then I was like, “Fuck it! I’m going to go see what’s happening down at the burning building.” I get up, in the dark, managed to dress myself without putting anything on inside out or backwards or anything like that. Nic’s like, “I’m coming too.” So just as we’re about to leave, the power comes back on to the entire apartment. Since we’d already gotten dressed again for our little journey we weren’t about to be deterred. Down the stairs we go – the way the power was behaving I wasn’t taking a chance with the elevators. We were originally going to walk but it still kinda sprinkling and, well, I didn’t want to melt, so we drove. We get down to the scene and there are like five fire trucks, the platoon chief and two ambulances. Tons o’ people milling about but no sign of smoke. (Granted, I wasn’t expecting something along the lines of the MGM Grand fire but a little smoke wouldn’t have hurt)

Home we go, start watching TV. A few minutes later one of the fire trucks that was there goes screaming down Bradley the other way on its way to a different call apparently. Whee! Lots of fun that night…

Oh yeah, on Friday, Jason, Tracy, Tracy, Nic & I went to Silver City to see Shrek 2. This movie is freakin’ great! Far funnier than the first one and TONS of little inside jokes and references to other movies. The best character, BY FAR, had to be Puss In Boots. The feline blade-master was voiced by Antonio Bandarras (or however the fuck you spell his last name). The voice was perfect for it and the way they animated the cat made both Nikki & I think of Freya. Some of the expressions were almost EXACTLY the same. Sooooo cute….

So I installed the Sims, 8 in 1 onto my computer last night. I’ve never played the Sims before, seems like a pretty good game. I only have one beef.

Since when does a PC game take 3 1/2 hours to install!!!! That was just crazy-ass long! I couldn’t believe it would take that long!

Storms

So a couple of huge thunder storms last night. I love thunder storms. The thunder, the lightning. Watching the rain hit the ground.

Anyway, point of this post. The storms yesterday made for quite an interesting and funny night.

So, about a quarter to nine last night the storm gets so bad, we start to lose our satellite signal. No big, it’s really expected. We did finally lose signal, so, while waiting for it to some back, I went into the bedroom to change into my pajamas. As I came out, Rob–still in the living room–exclaimed about the power going out. I asked him what he was talking about; the lights were still on in the bedroom. Yet, Rob was right, the power had gone out. Only it had gone out for only half my apartment. Hallway-no power, Kitchen-no power, except for the fridge, Living room-nada. Bathroom and storage closet-all good. Bedroom-the closet had power and one outlet, the rest, no power.

It was just plain weird, who has half their power go out? Besides, about 5 minutes later, the power goes out for the rest of the South end of the city. So, we waited in the dark for it to come back, figuring our living room was just psychic and had just predicted the power outage and was trying to warn us in advance.

So, about another 5 minutes later, power returned, but again for only half the apartment. Okay, so both of us are going “WTF?”. I then call my apartment’s emergency contact number to report the issue. Well, at least I found out my apartment isn’t the only one affected. There was a couple more in the building with the same situation.

Since, we are now missing Alias, Rob and I now try to figure out what to do without TV. The power being out, really isn’t the issue, it’s the lack of TV that is caused by it. We talk about reading; he had a book out from the library. I don’t really have anything though. And it is way too early to actually go to bed and sleep.

Probably about 10 minutes passes and we pick the reading option. At least the bedroom still has half working power. We both curl up in the bed grab a couple of books to read, get under the blankets, open to the first page and the power goes out completely again!!

I just burst out laughing, this was too much, anytime we tried to do something, a lack of power interfered. Rob got upset, only three words into the book and we were thwarted again.

Fortunately, power came back almost right away. YAY, now we could watch TV. It was just a weird night, with funny things happening.

Troy

So, went to see Troy today at the theatre. Not too bad of a flick. If you like movies that stay as true as they can to the novel(s) they are based on, Troy will not disappoint. If you like bloody battle scenes, again, Troy will not disappoint.

Acting was also good, special effects were at the current standard. A decent film to go see in the theatre. Not as great as Gladiator, but still definitely a film to go to the theatre for.

Ok, so hopefully everyone remembers the post Rob made about the streaker at work. If you don’t re-read his post titled “Sometimes you see the strangest things” (Duh)

Then, if you want to see the video that was made during the adventure, click here.

If you know some of the people we work with. Please take note of Michael Callipari (a Support Delivery Manager, i.e. senior management) walk right past the guy; pretty much ignoring him.

Well, the latest installment of CBS’ ratings hit has come to an end. I won’t say who won just in case someone visits here that hasn’t had a chance to watch it yet. But I will say this: CBS has to do something to plug the information leaks about the show. I read online within a couple weeks of the show starting who was in the final four, final two, and who won. Everything I read was 100% accurate. They’ve had eight or nine seasons of the show now. You’d think they would be able to keep a lid on things by this point.

The other cool thing about last night’s finale was that Boston Rob proposed to Amber. Of course she accepted. Just once, I’d like to see one of these nation-wide broadcasted proposals end up with a negative answer – just to see the reaction of the person doing the proposing.

Oh yeah, another cool thing about the reunion show was that Jerri got all pissy and left the show because the audience booed her because she effectively lashed out at all the fans of show by saying that the show basically traded on the emotions and personal lives of its particpants for the entertainment of the fans. This is after she was on the show TWICE! I’d be willing to bet any money that if it was her accepting the million dollar prize she wouldn’t be so quick to criticize.

I think we need to make a new goal for these posts. It seems we aren’t able to make a post every day, but if you’re observant, so far this month, there is a new pattern.

What do you think? Maybe just make a post on every even day in the month?

So far, we are right on goal!
:)

I just went out and picked up the Risk 2210 board game. We’ve been playing it for ages but the only people that have it are Jason & Jen and Mike. Ergo we’ve either needed to go over to that person’s place or they’ve needed to bring the game with them.

This game, at one point, was almost IMPOSSIBLE to find. So anyway, find out Toys R Us have them so off I go. It’s a smaller box than the original and doesn’t have the little compartments to put all the pieces in – this is a HUGE pain in the ass considering there are HUNDREDS of little pieces that need to be color divided. I’ll probably end up crafting some type of divider for the box to store the pieces without mixing them.

So…since it was sorta slow at work tonight and my MSN Messenger wasn’t working I figured I’d read through the rules. Now, you gotta realize, I’ve read these before a long while back and we’ve played literally HUNDREDS of times prior to this reading….so….imagine my surprise when I discover that we’ve been playing WRONG! Okay, actually, I’m not THAT surprised as we just recently discovered another mistake in the game that we had been making. This time thought it’s TWO different things we’ve been doing wrong. One of them isn’t too big of a deal but it could make a minor difference in the way we play. The other is HUGE…Man…this is gonna make the rest of the people we play with unhappy…

So finally off of the 7 AM – 4 PM shifts. I now work 11 AM – 8 PM.

Loving it so far. Slept till nine. Still got all my work done. I am beginning to think this is the best time to work. The slowest time of day is between noon and 6 PM. Guess where the majority of my shift is. :)

Another nice thing, was it was dusk out when I was driving home. It made me feel like I had put in a full day’s work. Heading home when the sun was high in the sky, just made me feel like I had too much work left to do.

Bored

So kinda bored right now. Rob’s watching NASCAR and I’m not much into the racing thing. It’s not too bad, I have the internet at least. Hopefully, the race doesn’t last too long (well, not too much longer than the 4 hours, this channel slotted for it). Already done my running around for the day; stopped by work to do payroll, hit the grocery store for some bread and lunch meat. I’ve even already done the breakfast dishes. Well, time to find something to keep me occupied.
